Goafie vs byAir
Last updated: October 15, 2026. Prices and features as of October 2026.
Both apps run on iPhone and Android. Goafie is a flight logbook and travel tracker for pilots, flight attendants and everyone they fly with: flights and hotels in one log, with friends who can follow your whole trip. byAir is a flight tracker and flight logbook.
We make Goafie, so read this with that in mind. Everything here about byAir comes from its own website, FAQ, feature and comparison pages, terms, and its App Store and Google Play listings, checked on October 13, 2026.
Where Goafie is different
- Hotels alongside flights. Log your hotel stays next to your flights: search for the hotel and add your dates. Your nights away and cities count toward your year, and friends can follow your stays too. byAir calls itself intentionally flight-first, and its own TripIt comparison says it isn't a full itinerary planner beyond flights.
- Friends who see your whole trip. Find friends by @handle, from People you may know, or by sending a link. Friends see your flights and hotel stays, but not your seat, booking code, notes or loyalty numbers, unless you share a photo that shows them. See which friends are on your flight or at your hotel, react to their trips, and add a friend's flight to your own trips in one tap. byAir Friends, added in September 2026, shows your byAir friends your upcoming flights and travel stats, without hotel stays.
- Subscribe to a friend's trips. Tap the bell on any friend's flight or stay, or turn on auto-subscribe to follow everything they add. Their trips sit in your Subscribed trips with their status, gate and aircraft. Subscribing is free; Goafie Pro tracks them live, sends you their alerts and puts their flight on your Lock Screen. In byAir, friends' shared flights appear in its Friends tab, but alerts about their changes need byAir Pro, as do its family updates over WhatsApp or Telegram, and there are no hotel stays to follow.
- Photos shared with friends on your flight. Add photos to any of your flights: the boarding pass, the aircraft, the cabin, the airport. Turn on sharing for that flight and your photos are pooled with friends on the same flight, so a crew or a family sees everyone's photos and boarding passes in one place. Sharing is off by default, set per flight, and free, and only friends on that flight see them. byAir lets you share a flight as a link or image, or your byAir ID card, but doesn't list a way to add your own photos to a flight or pool them with friends.
- Your loyalty numbers on every flight. Save your frequent-flyer, hotel, lounge and car-rental numbers once, from about 700 airlines and 55 hotel groups, with a screenshot of each QR code if you like. Each flight shows your number for that airline, with one-tap copy and its QR code, and if you don't hold that airline's program it shows the alliance partner you do. Stays at the hotel groups Goafie recognizes show your hotel number and your nights with that group this year. Free, and only you see them. byAir doesn't list a place for loyalty numbers, and its own TripIt comparison says it has no points tracker.
- Gate and delay alerts on the free plan. Your own flights get gate and delay alerts at key checkpoints, and a change in the last 3 hours before departure reaches you within about 30 minutes, or within about 5 minutes in the final 15 minutes before departure. On byAir's free plan, each flight is checked several times during its lifecycle. byAir says status usually refreshes within a few minutes once fresh data is available, but estimates can lag by 1 to 2 hours, free users get limited notifications, and only byAir Pro users get every type, including delays, gate changes and boarding.
- Fast alerts with Goafie Pro. Goafie Pro checks your flight about every 5 minutes from 3 hours before departure, about every 3 minutes in the last 15 minutes, and about every 2 minutes while you taxi, so in those last 3 hours gate and delay alerts reach you within minutes of a change. With a free account, the next airline flight you add gets the same, free, once, until it leaves your Trips.
- A Lock Screen card on the free plan. Your own flights get a Lock Screen card from about 3 hours before departure until about an hour after you land: a Live Activity on iPhone, or a Live Update on Android 16 and newer. On Android and on iOS 17.2 or later it starts on its own, without opening the app. On the free plan its gate and delay details update at the same checkpoints as your alerts; with Pro, and on the next airline flight you add once you sign in, every few minutes. byAir's terms list Live Activity support as a Pro feature, and its Flighty and TripIt comparisons list Live Activities and Live Updates under Pro.
- Made for people who fly a lot. With a free account, every flight and stay you add stays in your log, with no limit on how many; the free plan limits trips ahead of you to 10 at a time and new trips to 5 a day, and adding past trips needs Pro. Goafie Pro has no limit on how many trips you hold or add. byAir's FAQ says even Pro users have safety limits, and that tracking more than about 200 flights a year may trigger restrictions because it exceeds personal use.
- See where your plane is coming from, free. Once the airline assigns the aircraft, My Aircraft shows its tail number and age and the flights that same plane flew before yours, with how late each one ran. It's on your flights and your friends'. In byAir, Find My Plane's history of the flights your plane flew before yours needs byAir Pro; basic aircraft information may show without it.
- Airport and airline reviews. Rate airports on security, terminal, food, wifi and navigation. Rate the airline for each flight on boarding, crew, comfort, food and entertainment, note the cabin you flew, and add up to 5 photos. Reviews are free. byAir has airport tips, but doesn't list airport or airline ratings.

Quick answers
Does byAir track hotels?
No. byAir describes itself as flight-first, and its own comparison with TripIt says it isn't an itinerary planner beyond flights. Goafie logs hotel stays alongside your flights, and your friends can follow both.
How much does Goafie Pro cost compared with byAir Pro?
In the US, Goafie Pro is $4.99 a month or $54.99 a year. byAir's US App Store listing shows several Pro prices: $5.99 or $9.99 a month, $39.99 or $49.99 a year, $4.99 a week, and $199.99 for lifetime. Both apps are free to download. Prices as of October 2026.
Do I get flight alerts on the free plan?
Yes. On Goafie's free plan, gate and delay changes on your own flights reach you at key checkpoints: in the last 3 hours before departure, within about 30 minutes of a change, and in the final 15 minutes, within about 5 minutes. Goafie Pro sends them within minutes, and so does your 1st Free Pro Flight: once you sign in, the next airline flight you add gets Pro tracking and alerts free, once. byAir says free users get limited notifications, and that only byAir Pro users can receive every type, including delays, gate changes and boarding.
Can I follow a friend's trip on Goafie?
Yes. Tap the bell on any friend's flight or hotel stay, or turn on auto-subscribe to follow everything they add. Subscribing is free on every plan; Goafie Pro adds that trip's alerts and puts your friend's flight on your Lock Screen.
Can Goafie keep my loyalty numbers?
Yes. Save your frequent-flyer, hotel, lounge and car-rental numbers once, and Goafie shows the right one on each flight with one-tap copy and its QR code, and your hotel number on stays at the hotel groups it recognizes. It's free, and only you see them. byAir doesn't list a place for loyalty numbers.
Who Goafie is for
Goafie is for people who fly with other people: crews, families and friends who want to follow each other's whole trips, flights and hotels, and share the photos from the same flight. It keeps your loyalty numbers ready on every flight, and on the free plan it puts your own flight on your Lock Screen and sends you its gate and delay changes. With Goafie Pro there's no limit on how many trips you add.
